The stickers on the packaging are a joint action by the painting contractors (OnderhoudNL), the paint dealers (VVNH) and the paint manufacturers (VVVF). Suppliers, so primarily the paint wholesalers, are obliged to provide their customers with a so-called Safety Information Sheet (VIB) with each initial purchase of a product, and if the composition of the product has changed. These are documents that meet all kinds of legal requirements and mainly serve to inform the user of the product about the risks that working with this product can cause and the safety measures that he/she must take.
This legal obligation to hand over was translated into the system and the website by the VVNH, in collaboration with the VVVF, several years ago.Safe with paint: When purchasing a new product, painters receive their VIB digitally via this site and can also search the site for safety information themselves.
When the Inspectorate SZW visits a work or office, the painter must be able to show that he/she is in possession of the VIBs. And that work is carried out as safely as possible in accordance with the regulations. In practice, not much is actively searched on the site. Many painters will not easily have the VIBs available. This means that they run a double risk: that they do not take the right safety measures and that they can be fined during an inspection.
The aim of the sticker campaign is to once again draw the attention of painters to the correct working method.
